Valleyriver Kennels

My name is Andrea Free and Valleyriver Kennels is the realization of a dream I first had forty years ago when I fell in love with my first Staffordshire Bull Terrier bitch Jackie. I don't think we ever recover from our first Stafford love affair and why would we want to?!

Forty years later and on the other side of the world we live on a 5 acre block with tons of room for the dogs to run around and no neighbours within sight or sound. Our dogs are first and foremost our pets, they sleep inside with us and we have complicated rotas for sofas!

Our aim is to produce show ring quality Staffords but nothing is more important to us than temperament. We want stunning dogs with that wonderful loving nature that the breed is famous for. All our dogs are DNA tested and clear and there is no hereditary history of allergies or skin conditions in our lines.

Our foundation bitch and matriarch of Valleyriver is Keira (Foxestown Catherine Ellen). She has the very best bloodlines behind her and has a sister, brother, father, uncle, grandmother, grandfather etc all Champions in the show ring. She has correct conformation and is very intelligent as well as beautiful but most important of course is her nature which is .... well everything a Staffords nature should be! The most valuable attribute of a foundation bitch is her ability to pass on her quality to her progeny and this is exactly what Keira has done for Valleyriver - in spades!

Valleyriver dogs have had very limited show outings due to geography, time and health restraints. However of the few of our dogs that have ventured into the show ring: Evie won 4 challenges (3 in a row) from a handful of outings pre Covid and has recently added 8 more in the neutered class and been made up to Neuter Champion. Max went to his first show and won it outright under a specialist judge. Tansy is just starting out on her showing career and won her class at the 4 shows she has been to so far.

All our puppies are sold with a contract which states they are not to be used for breeding or showing. However if the puppy is good enough to show and you are keen, we can easily lift the restriction. The contract also states if you ever have to rehome the puppy we will either approve of the home you have found or you will need to return the puppy to us to rehome on your behalf. We care deeply for every single Valleyriver pup - for it's whole life. Valleyriver offers lifetime support to all our puppy families, no question or problem is too small, I am always happy to help. Often the biggest most stressful situations can be resolved within 24 hours with just a few emails!

In the scrapbook attached to this page you will see lots of photos of our pups, youngsters and dogs. Most of these were posted by their families on our the Valleyriver FB Group. Lots of our families regularly post videos and photos and its great to see what our pups and dogs are up to. Litters Available

Here at Valleyriver Kennels Tansy (Valleyriver Golden Star) our beautiful red girl had a litter of 8 stunning puppies on the 8/4/25 so the pups will be ready for their new homes in the first week of June.

Dad, a dark brindle is Koda, Valleyriver Addannis Blaze who at a year old still has 18 months of maturing to do, but he oozes quality in my opinion! Mum and Dad are Valleyriver dogs that are DNA tested clear and their families are known going back many generations, with each mating planned carefully over the years to produce what we believe is the best combination of temperament, health and conformation.

We also have a private FB group just for our puppy families which is a great community of Stafford loving people and a real window into what Valleyriver is all about.

Now the puppies are born we also have a FB just for the litter which shows each pup within minutes of being born and for the next 8 weeks I will be posting photos and vids almost every day so you can see your puppy grow.
