Ashdale Kennels is a small kennel approx one and a half hours drive north of Auckland CBD, on a 57 acre lifestyle block in Te Arai.
My aim is to breed quality, genetically sound labrador retrievers of impeccable temperament, that will make wonderful pets, working dogs and show exhibits.
As a child, we were not fortunate enough to have a family dog so it wasn't until I married and had my first son in 1988 that I owned my first dog, Sandy, a beautiful yellow labrador retriever. This was to be the beginning of my lifetime love affair with dogs.
Having a litter of puppies with a chocolate labrador, many years later was so rewarding that it inspired a passion in me to someday establish a small breeding kennel where I could immerse myself in "everything doggy" and at the same time, bring that same joy and fulfillment into the lives of others through my puppies.
I took a vet nursing course in order to educate myself more about the care of dogs and it is this training that has formed the basis of my strong insistence of only breeding from genetically sound bloodlines. ALL of my breeding stock are DNA tested for genetic disease and my labradors are also hip/elbow scored and carry current eye certs.
When my children eventually flew the nest I was able to devote more time and finance to my dream of owning my own kennel and in 2008, Ashdale was born.
I have dabbled in the showring and having had some success, must admit to having caught "the bug" and I now look forward to attending a few more shows in the future.

ASHDALE MR BUSY BEE

Buzz is our beautiful chinchilla fox red boy. His pedigree boasts fox red bloodlines from well respected breeders from the USA. He is a happy chap, and as his name suggests, is an active boy who is game for anything. We look forward to using him in our breeding program and , once proven, offering him at stud to outside bitches.

Chase is our big black boy. Strongly built, this dog oozes quality.  He has great bone, a lovely masculine head, correct double coat and a nice fat otter tail. His pedigree is littered with Champion Bloodlines from overseas. A proven producer, Chase is offered at stud to approved bitches.

ASHDALE PIPING HOT

Piper is a very special fox red boy who was bred here at Ashdale and is loved and owned by my friend Lesley Waterman, in Auckland. With a traditional stocky build and gorgeous masculine head, he is a sight to behold. A proven producer of lovely typey fox red puppies. We have litters sired by him available from time to time and also have  his frozen semen available to approved bitches.
