My involvement in Poodles has been life-long, starting in
Queensland nearly 50 years ago.
I was born into a dog show family, breeding and exhibiting Miniature Poodles with
my mother, Carol Donaldson, under the ‘Astii’ prefix. At 10 years old, I acquired
my very own Toy Poodle who I successfully campaigned to an Australian champion.
In the 80’s, my family purchased our first Standard Poodles and I was added as
a co-breeder to the family prefix. This started my love for Standards which has
continued ever since.
In the 90’s, I was the proud co-owner of Queensland’s first Grand Champion
Standard Poodle ‘Aust Gr Ch Jurado Buck Stops Here’ before moving to New
Zealand, where I continued to co-breed and own several dogs (Standard Poodles,
Dobermanns) who became Champions, Grand Champions & Supreme Champions (Aust
& NZ).
In 2018, I joined my wife, Ashleigh Rogers and family members, Dianne Rogers
and Cath Tippett, as a co-owner of the long established Tai Yuan prefix (Saint Bernard’s,
Pekingese and Pugs). Since joining the Tai Yuan prefix, Ashleigh and I have
successfully produced an additional five All Breeds and Speciality Best in Show
winners as well as breeding and/or owning New Zealand number one Standard
Poodle for the past several years.
In addition to breeding and showing, I am currently the President of The Poodle Club and a long-time committee member for the Franklin Kennel Association. I hold a breed specialist license in both Poodles and Dobermans.
